In my day job I'm a sales guy, serving Silicon Valley. That means I get to visit lots of technology companies. Today, I met with a guy who is responsible for integrating acquired companies at Electronic Arts (Makers of SIms and Battlefield games among others.) I got to see one kick ass demo of Bad Company 2 that me want to buy the game. He indicated this would be released wintertime.
By the way, they have just about the coolest company offices I've ever seen (and I've seen hundreds...) To prove it, here are some pictures. When you come into their office, you see this front desk with a huge screen above it, playing trailers for upcoming games. To your left are three consoles you can stand at and play demos of current games. To your right are three reclining chairs with more games. Made me want to have time to wait.
Once you get inside, (you can see a little of this through the open door behind the desk) there is a Starbucks inside that just serves employees -- and waiting and work areas spread all over with informal tables and chairs. Each of the gaming groups has its own section of the building. As I said, very cool. I'm attaching a few pictures of the front lobby.
So what do you guys think of BC or the upcoming BC2?
Best part, my contact invited me to come to the company store with him on my next visit..... I gotta figure out what I want to buy... Image: http://www.appliedweaponology.com/e107_files/public/1258002609_238_FT0_img00171_.jpg

Hmmm maybe they should spend more time looking at their business model instead of massages so that they don't have to lay off another 1500 people.

Talked with him about that, too -- they see a huge shift in gaming -- away from "boxed product" to much more social gaming. I use facebook a lot and tons of my friends there are playing Farkle, Farmtown, etc. Gaming companies see this as big new opportunity.
Agreed there is alot of farkle being played here by wifey. As for the massage thing etc. The reason being is alot of employees work very long hours when it comes to crunch time releasing a game. Some of them even stay the night..yes there is provision for that too in Burnaby..the layoffs were pretty shocking.hopefully things turn around with their new focus.
Saw some great new weapons too during my tour. They played a preview for me and I snapped a photo. Check the realism of this. Note it is a cooperative weapon. Image: http://www.appliedweaponology.com/e107_files/public/1258088576_238_FT12788_file003_.jpg
the driver runs em over and the guy in the back puts them down:) I like this game! 10 points if you run the old guy over ther...i mean Hi Gomi:) Time has gone with yesterday. You start to realize that the days that you thought would never end, did quite quickly.
all i have to say is that i think dice finally was able to make their bf2 even better. from the screen shots and videos, it looks and sounds like your in a real battle! Time has gone with yesterday. You start to realize that the days that you thought would never end, did quite quickly.
